POSITION SUMMARY
The HR & EHS Manager partners with the Plant Manager and Director of Human Resources to provide tactical and strategic HR and Safety support in developing and executing plans that optimize the organization in the areas of safety, environmental, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits, compensation and training in a fast-paced evolving manufacturing environment.
Location - Onsite - Perrysville, OH
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with plant leadership to develop workforce strategies that support production goals, labor planning and talent development, identify budgeted personnel needs and then develop detailed and compliant job descriptions
- Develop, implement and maintain EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
- Lead recruiting events and initiatives
- Facilitate initiatives that drive employee engagement, a positive safety and workplace culture and improve employee retention
- Spend time on the manufacturing floor identifying potential issues and recommending solutions
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Lead incident investigations and ensure appropriate reporting and follow up
- Assess potential candidates for fit within position (skills, education, competency, culture alignment)
- Work with HR colleagues to assist in appropriate resolution of compensation and benefits concerns
- Lead employee relations events; and support employees and managers, responding to questions, concerns or issues.
- Develop and deliver various HR and Safety trainings
- Serve as both a sounding board and counsel to supervisors and managers related to employee relations issues
- Provide HR/Safety metrics and reports as needed to leadership
- Maintain current working knowledge of compliance and regulatory concerns, industry trends and best HR practices
- Identify and lead HR and Safety improvement initiatives and metrics
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate HR files
- Maintain OSHA Log, environmental permits, compliance documentation and SDS Sheets
- Employee on-boarding and off-boarding initiatives
- Handle other HR duties, as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety or similar field, or equivalent work experience; HR certification a plus
- 4 + years related work experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations for both labor and safety
- Proven experience leading HR/Safety Projects, Initiatives or Events
- Knowledge of principles and best practices for recruitment and selection
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills with employees and all levels of management; able to create a working environment of open communication and trust
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution skills and root cause analysis skills
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to confidentially manage HR and medical related information and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct at all times
- Proven ability to partner with leadership to provide expertise on HR and Safety initiatives
- Proficiency with HRIS system, ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Work Environment:
This position will perform job duties in both the plant and office environments:
- Must be able to walk the production floor daily, wear appropriate PPE and conduct safety audits in varying conditions (i.e. noise, heat, machinery)
- Occasional lifting, climbing
- May require occasional evening or weekend work for investigations, training or compliance deadlines
- Using a computer, software applications, telephone, printer, etc.
- Occasional travel may be required between locations
