MGSD DIRECTOR OF BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM (BASP)
Purpose: Directs total program performance and assumes primary responsibility for daily supervision of the program including student registration, record keeping, collection and deposit of funds, parent contact, staff scheduling, health and safety guidelines, field trip planning, purchasing, staff selection and employment, and supervision of students and staff
Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or elementary education, or related area, 3+ years of childcare management experience preferred
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Supervises: Total operation of the program and staff
Essential Functions:
- Plans the program in accordance with Board and State policies and guidelines
- Assumes responsibility for the daily administration and planning of the program in accordance with Board and State policies and guidelines
- Ensures maintenance of constant care and supervision of students and notification of parents and school administrators if medical treatment beyond simple first aid is necessary for a student
- Ensures compliance with local and state employment regulation concerning child care workers
- Arranges for substitutes in accordance with board procedures and licensing guidelines
- Assists with the supervision of support staff as assigned including review of lesson plans, staff scheduling, and evaluation
- Maintains communications with parents regarding injuries, behavior, and other program concerns as necessary
- Maintains cooperative relations with school administration and staff
- Communicates with parents regarding program policies, program availability, menu postings, activity schedules, student behavior, student injuries, tax information, and related issues
- Develops and implements approved discipline guidelines and makes recommendations to the school administration
- Maintains written plans and schedules for the program in accordance with local and state guidelines
- Suggests, secures, and approves community resource people and off-campus activities, subject to suggestions by the Site Directors
- Holds staff meetings, workshops and staff training
- Approves and purchases, with the approval of the Finance Officer, all supplies for the program
- Receives and records registration and payments for students, deposits funds, and maintains financial records according to state and district policies
- Maintains program records and makes regular reports to the Chief Finance Officer, Chief Operations Officer and/or Board of Education
- Supports staff in planning and implementing state licensed drills and keeps necessary records
- Reviews and approves materials and activities used in the program
- Keeps attendance records for students and staff
- Plans summer camp and field trips, including the responsibility for arranging transportation, parent permission
- Directs the maintenance of first aid supplies and establishes and follows emergency procedures consistent with the district crisis response
- Maintains confidentiality of program and student records and concerns
- Participate in training ,workshops and district administrative duties
- Practice and maintain staff-student relationships which foster respect for staff and contribute to the positive self-esteem of the students
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
Physical Requirements: The following list includes the physical requirements of the position:
- Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment including computers, copiers, etc.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license.
- Must be able to perform basic life operational functions of standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching pushing, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions
- Must be able to perform medium work exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
- Must possess the visual acuity to prepare data, work with records processes, and do extensive reading and research
Terms of Employment: 12 months - Administrator contract and salary commensurate with the MGSD Director Salary Schedule. Full benefits package offered with full time employment.
