Project Designer
The Project Designer is a key member of BLDD Architects’ project team and is the engine of our practice. As a Project Designer you will have the opportunity to join one of the nation’s best design firms while creating every day and working alongside other design team members of the firm to hone your craft as the future of BLDD. Our Project Designers will follow the concept through to completion and learn to design at a deeper functional and aesthetic level. The Project Designer will be teamed with other design professionals, firm leaders, and consultants on project teams in the delivery of world class client experience and exceptional architectural design.

Project Designer - Primary Responsibilities
- Works independently on architectural design projects and coordinates project design efforts.
- Develops planning and creative design concepts for projects.
- Prepares presentations and design drawings and details.
- Provides planning and design support in the preparation of design development.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Senior Project Designer – Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinates all project design efforts in order to ensure effective execution.
- Consults with the client on design aspects, specifications, estimated costs, and construction schedule.
- Manages the client’s needs and desires throughout the project life cycle, ensuring an exceptional client experience.
- Prepares and facilitates presentations, incorporating design drawings and contract requirements.
- Provides oversight and monitoring of the work of less experienced project designers.
Qualifications
- Professional degree in architecture or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Years of experience in Architecture Design or related field - Project Designer: 5-10, Sr. Project Designer: 10+.
- Day Travel within the regional Midwest - up to 15%.
- Valid State Driver’s License required.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong work ethic, energetic, optimistic, and positive attitude.
- Attention to detail, with great organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Sheets & Docs, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam required.
- Strong expertise in Revit, Lumion, Sketchup and other modeling software required.
- Willingness to learn and desire to contribute to the team’s success.
- Work is of a creative nature, requires independent judgment and discretion, and is intellectual and varied to where the output cannot be standardized with regard to time.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands: Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally and in writing, detect and observe situations, requires the use of an automobile, lift and move up to 50 lbs., work with others, computer and phone system, near and far vision required, infrequently works with chemicals/toxins.
Typical Working Conditions: The Project Designer will work inside, with a flexible work schedule that allows for varying start and end times. BLDD’s unrelenting work ethic and ambitious performance standards ensure both productivity and flexibility for our staff. Regular attendance required.
