Job Summary

The Warrior Bridge (WB) Program Coordinator will deliver comprehensive employment rehabilitation services to support veterans with disabilities in achieving competitive employment, including self-employment exploration, education, and business start-up assistance. This role is also responsible for developing employer partnerships, coordinating direct employment services, and connecting veterans to relevant community resources.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

(1) Business Development and Grant Acquisition

  • Assist program development team with identifying opportunities and providing program related expertise and knowledge in development of funding requests and responses to grant opportunities. 

  • Assist with management of existing grants supporting Warrior Bridge.

(2) Veterans Home Improvement Projects / Home Depot Foundation

  • Interface with Home Depot contacts and Veteran home owners to ensure home improvement projects are completed as needed.

(3) Advocacy / Public Relations

  • Interface with local congressional representatives to ensure awareness of Warrior Bridge program in Pinellas County.

  • Participate in development of press releases, announcements, and special events as needed. 

  • Coordinate with foundation to ensure that thank you letters, tax receipts, interviews and tours with donors are conducted as needed.

  • Engage at least 10 wounded veteran-serving organizations and partners in information exchange, collaborative discussions and expanded service coordination for wounded veterans.

(4) Veterans Mall and Employment Services

  • Assist one-hundred (100) wounded veterans and their families to access local resources and employment services.

  • Provide peer support, employment assistance and resource navigation to improve the quality of life of Veterans served.

  • Manage all aspects of the Veterans Mall program, including inventory oversight, appointment coordination with case managers, volunteer engagement, reporting on veterans served, and supervision of the part-time Inventory Clerk when applicable.

(5) Duval Park

  • Provide support and supervision to Duval Park case manager.  Ensure goals of Duval Park are met and reports are submitted to the contracts department as needed

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work directly with veterans to improve performance-based interviewing skills and assist with resume preparation to help veterans secure employment.

  • Maintain regular dialogue and coordinate program activities closely with existing Veteran’s Business Administration, Veteran’s Health Administration, Department of Labor, Department of Rehabilitative Services and/or Department of Defense programs for referrals and to maximize service access and coordination for local veterans.

  • Assist partners such as the Veteran’s Administration and the Department of Defense to identify and cultivate employer relationships to link veterans with employment; Coordinate with and connect veterans to local and national employment, housing and veterans' resources and training programs.

  • Continually analyze the project for best practices, leveraged resource capacity and replication at other locations.

  • Collect, analyze and report data on all demographics, verification of veteran status and measures of success on a monthly basis, and assist in all other quality assurance procedures.

  • Work closely with the Director and assist in complying with all funder requirements for reporting and service delivery.

  • Assist in recruiting veterans for a Speaker’s Bureau to market Warrior Bridge in the community.

  • Engage in partnership and funding development to expand the program and obtain sustainable funding sources; and Review participant and stakeholder satisfaction surveys to ensure that quality services are being provided. Address any concerns on an as needed basis.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with veterans, in job placement services, marketing, or a related field.

  • Veteran candidates, particularly those with disabilities, will be given preference.

  • Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR). 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to work with people internally and externally at all levels of an organization.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software such as Workday.   

  • Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.

The employee may occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
