JOB TITLE: Laboratory Manager
LOCATION: Rockville, MD
HOURS: 4 DAY WORK WEEK - Monday - Thursday (Full-Time)
PAY: $80,000-110,000 depending on years of experience

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Oversees the operation of the laboratory. Monitors quality assurance and established laboratory processes and procedures. Provide leadership for the laboratory personnel. Ensure the effective and efficient allocation of resources. Maintains the laboratory accreditation and compliance components.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Laboratory Director, Assistant Laboratory Director, and the Chief Executive Officer.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion and frequent standing and walking short distances. Requires good eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity in both hands. Requires vision that is correctable to 20/20 and normal color perception. Requires the ability to hear alarms, instrument/analyzer audible alerts and telephone communications. Requires the ability to effectively communicate both orally and written. Requires the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, pathogenic bacteria and toxic substances, i.e. acids & bases.

- Selects the appropriate laboratory test methodology that ensures quality results.
- Verifies laboratory test procedures performed and establishes accuracy & precision parameters for each laboratory test.

LABORATORY MANAGER
- Maintains the laboratory enrollment in an approved proficiency testing program and ensures all requirements for proficiency testing are followed.
- Reviews the proficiency testing survey results with the Laboratory Director.
- Develops and documents a corrective action plan when proficiency testing results are unacceptable.
- Establishes and oversees a quality control program appropriate for the testing being performed and reported by the laboratory.
- Develops and maintains a quality assurance program that identifies and corrects errors in all phases of laboratory testing.
- Establishes and maintains a standard operating procedure manual.
- Provide training for laboratory personnel as needed.
- Provide OSHA training for all clinical staff.
- Ensures compliance with State, CLIA and OSHA regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION:
Medical Technologist- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related field.
Medical Laboratory Technician -Associates of Science degree in Medical Technology.
CERTIFICATION:
ASCP{or equivalent) as a Medical Technologist/Technician.
