London Borough of Harrow is looking to recruit a Child Protection Chair to chair multi-disciplinary child protection conferences. The Child Protection Chairs take a lead role in driving improvements in child protection practice across the multi-agency partnership by placing vulnerable children and their families at the heart of all decision-making, reflecting their care about children and consistently ensuring that their voice is represented throughout your work.
You will need to effectively develop practice and provide leadership in driving forward improvements in the quality of multi-agency child protection planning. Furthermore, you will need knowledge of best practice in working with children and families to ensure that child protection plans are robust, evidence based, and outcome focused. Highly analytical with sound knowledge of relevant legislation, you will also play a central role in monitoring the effectiveness of multi-agency safeguarding practice as well as providing support and advice to Children's Services colleagues.
We are seeking someone who can work closely with other Child Protection and Children Looked After Chairs in evaluating and quality assuring social care practice within the Local Authority. You will be asked to lead on agreed safeguarding projects, and must be comfortable in
chairing Children Looked After reviews when called upon.

- Experience of complex child protection work.
- Have a Social Work qualification i.e. CQSW, DipSW or equivalent.
- Be registered with the Social Work England as a Social Worker.
- Experience of reflective supervision of social workers.
- Understanding of quality assurance systems and experience of delivering quality assurance.
- You will ensure that good SMART child care planning takes place in respect of children who have child protection plans and that the relevant processes have been adhered to.
- Be able to work with complexities in responding to the changing need of communities such as contextual safeguarding for young people
- Working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:
- Legislative Framework
- Statutory Guidance and Standards
- Government Objectives and Initiatives
