I. Purpose of the Role

Oversee the Technical requirement across both Newcastle plants; support the Production Shift Managers and the Quality & Technical Manager in day to day operations.  Specific emphasis is placed in technical aspects involved with the production of wire rope products.

II. Roles and Responsibilities

Principal accountabilities shall include but not be limited to:

• Ensure that the Newcastle plants meet both internal and external customer expectations by establishing and maintaining a right first time manufacturing process and culture.
• Directly responsible for the Technical aspects completed across the Newcastle plants, contributing to the planning and workload across all shifts.
• Investigate internal failures/issues and aid in recommending corrective action, where appropriate working with teams.
• Work with Production Shift Managers on the capacity of the sites and establish what the constraints are and how you can work together to eliminate the constraints.
• Own Red Alert orders to ensure all special requirements are met and recorded with reports/feedback supplied.
• Carrying out daily audits on a variety of manufacturing topics to ensure good techniques are being used.
• Performance evaluation and analysis and feedback on this to key stakeholders such as the management team.
• Problem solving and analysis – understand the real problem; perform Root Cause Analysis, utilizing extensive rope knowledge and owns action closure with relevant departments.
• Technical representative in customer complaints investigations, working closely with the Quality & Technical Manager.
• Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives. 
• Working closely with the departmental manager, maintain an effective CI programme targeting improved quality and support improvements in efficiencies by standardisation and waste elimination.
• Responsible for acceptance of new rope designs, undertaking a technical review to ensure plants are capable of manufacturing product.
• Reviews all orders for Newcastle plants, captures any technical information and ensures that this is embedded into the works documentation.
• Undertakes technical review of all works documentation, to ensure that all design features of the product are captured fully in works documentation. 
• Work towards a zero accident culture by ensuring the effective enforcement of the company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. 
• From time to time may be required to work at other Bridon sites.

III. Skills & Competencies Required

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• IOSH managing safely Business improvement/lean manufacturing training courses.
• Full clean drivers license. 
• Strong leadership & team building skills, creating a motivated and empowered team.
• Experience of MS Office packages & other IT software.
• Presentations to peers & Supervisors. 
• Able to manage a team through changing situations.
• Experience required - 2 years.
• Experience of working within lean manufacturing methodologies.
• Motivating, empowering and energizing individuals & teams to succeed.
• Significant experience of managing within strict H&S & Quality parameters & KPI’s .
