Project Overview:

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job Summary:

The Completions Superintendent will report to the Area Superintendent in the completion of the LNG Facilities for Rio Grande LNG project. The Completions Superintendent will oversee the day to day activities of craft employees ensuring that the craft is working safely and efficiently regarding quality and productivity.  Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory capacity to oversee and coordinate multiple disciplines within an assigned area of the project. Work will be executed on a Direct Hire basis supported by specialty Subcontractors. Responsible for supervising construction operations and ensures direct hire and subcontractor’s performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Responsible for the planning and execution of all aspects of the work operations performed by Bechtel and subcontractors to support area schedule and priorities and coordinating work activities of various discipline superintendents. Responsible for completion of construction scope within assigned area and ensuring walkdowns, punchlisting, turnover to commissioning and startup are finished on or ahead of schedule. Responsible for coordination with Client organization as required in the completion of the facilities. #LI-TH1      

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading, supervising, and directing operations within assigned discipline or area. 
  • Leads, supervises, and directs craft and field non-manual activities, as required. 
  • Ensure that all project rules, work practices and procedures are complied with by all personnel within area of responsibility. 
  • Promote the Zero Accident Philosophy in every aspect of work. Actively support safety on the jobsite and participate in scheduled safety meetings. 
  • Implements Bechtel safety programs and ensures strict adherence to all applicable national, international, and state safety codes. 
  • Promote a Zero Punchlist Philosophy at the time of turnover to commissioning and startup. Actively support quality on the jobsite and participate in scheduled quality meetings. 
  • Implements Bechtel quality programs and ensures strict adherence to all applicable national, international, and state quality codes. 
  • Leads planning activities and development of detailed schedules for all completion and turnover activities within assigned area. 
  • Controls job-site expenditures, in assigned area, for labor, equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within the budget. 
  • Monitor construction equipment utilization and maintenance. 
  • Plans and implements procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget. 
  • Responsible for coordination of construction operations to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules. 
  • Maintains relationships with the client and their representatives, as required. 
  • Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.       

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy. 
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.        
  • Knowledge is normally acquired through: A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or Specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or Prior practical work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above

Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
