COMPANY DESCRIPTION: The Henny Penny convenience stores are operated by Petroleum Marketing Group, Inc. (PMG), a family-owned company. PMG acquired these stores from Hendels, Inc. on October 2, 2018. The sites have served Connecticut (CT) residents since 1949. As part of its fuel distribution business, Hendels, developed a network of gasoline stations over the years. We own, operate, and/or supply over 20 sites across the Connecticut area and annual fuel volume of over 700 million gallons. We offer each of our customers' superior customer service and support, provided by innovative, dedicated, talented and experienced employees.
Job Title: Operations Field Support Manager
Summary: The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of our Henny Penny locations, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate must possess a general knowledge of the following areas of operation: productivity, costs and budgets, purchasing, receiving, storing systems, personnel staffing and development, sanitation and general management of retail locations. The Operations Manager will directly report to the Director of Operations and works closely with the management team and office support staff to continuously monitor and maximize profitability. This will be a Full-time position with full benefit package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401K with match, and paid time off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assures daily cleanliness and focused engagement for all stores.
- Ensures all image program standards are met.
- Assures qualified/optimum assistance at assigned business units to include recruiting, training and development of store personal for all positions, verifying hiring packets, and training checklists.
- Following the established company procedures and brand requirements, conduct regular and thorough inspections of each location to document, review, and ensure compliance with standards.
- Ensures motor fuel and merchandise volumes and margins objectives are achieved. Recommends modifications to competitive posture.
- Monitors and reports competitive activity (i.e. price surveys) and communicates significant changes such as building activity, pricing, and methods of operation.
- Perform store inspections, execution of marketing programs, researching and resolving any discrepancies at store accounting level.
- Assures proper and timely handling of accounting and administrative functions and procedures. Monitors sales, cash +/-, cash drop procedures, cash draw limits, inventory control, store audits, store payroll dollars and hours, rules and regulations, customer complaints, environmental compliance and maintenance.
- Assures merchandising practices and standards, i.e. cooler POG’s, brand placement, products fronted, full, fresh, in code, display placements, coffee beverage & fast food clean and fresh, etc.
- Assures proper handling of store emergencies, alarm calls, gas spills, break-ins, robbery’s, loss prevention, verifying security camera (s) positions/views, DVR operating/recording, etc. 24/7
- In conjunction with Director of Operations, implements strategies and tactics, analyzes data / makes recommendations to ensure district goals are realized.
- Provide leadership and direction to facility management and program owners while motivating and interacting with employees to achieve continuous improvement.
- Perform other such tasks as may be required from time to time by management of the company.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or an equivalent combination of education and industry work experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory and/or retail management experience.
- Preferred: 2 years Multi-Unit supervision representing multiple brands in addition to the above
- Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.
- Able to travel to each location throughout the week as needed.
- Good analytical and oral/written communication skills are required.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient in PDI software
- Ability to solve issues independently as they arise.
- Position is 5 days a week, however, availability during weekend hours is as needed. Position requires 100% focus and attention. Ability and willingness to travel when needed. Periodic requirements to attend meetings and stays outside the district for business purposes.
