The Physical Therapy Tech works under the close supervision of a physical therapist or assistant, this position performs select tasks in preparing the patient, administering treatment therapy and maintaining the treatment area.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet and accompany physical therapy patients.
- Assist PT or OT with patient care, under their direct supervision.
- Set up treatment modalities for patients which are directed by therapist.
- Monitor patients on equipment to ensure a safe environment.
- Set up patients on cardio equipment.
- Set up patients on DRX equipment. Responsible for ensuring signed waiver is in the chart before putting patients on the DRX machine.
- Ensure that charge tickets and patient charts are handled appropriately.
- Pull and prepare next day’s charts per schedule. Mark charge ticket with insurance and co pays. Ensure insurance has been verified. Make sure all required waivers have been signed and are in the chart.
- Follow up on any notes that have been placed in patient charts.
- Maintain cleanliness of the equipment and the patient rooms.
- Launder towels and other linens.
- Maintain clinical supplies and prepare an order for management.
- Other duties and assignments as necessary
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Reports to work regularly without undue tardiness.

- Completes work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Excellent oral, written & telephone communication, along with tact, diplomacy, and a strong customer service orientation.
- Prioritizes work activities and accepts multiple job duties.
- Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, client, staff, and organizational data.
- Maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administration, and other staff members.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged sitting, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching and/or walking.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopier, fax machine, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
- Normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds infrequently
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in a clinical setting, with contact with patients, office staff, physicians, etc.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Overtime as required.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of experience in the physical therapy field, preferred.
- Bachelor of Health Sciences or related concentration desirable, not required.
