Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for general upkeep, sanitation, and cleanliness of the Douglas Garden North Senior Apartment Community. May be asked to perform light maintenance in common areas.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains the interior and exterior of building sanitation systems
• Performs light maintenance of the physical assets and has working understanding of HUD HQS & REAC requirements
• Maintains all interior/exterior common area regarding cleanliness of the property and curb appeal
• Maintains property inventory of janitorial products/materials
• Sweeping and mopping, vacuuming the floors, disposing of garbage, and cleaning other common areas of the buildings, such as elevators, laundry rooms, community rooms, and restrooms, security facility, as well as the cleanliness of the exterior of the buildings and grounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Manager

Job Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience:

• 2 years of related work experience in affordable housing apartment communities preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to visually examine products for quality and signage/labeling for accuracy.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor level

Licenses/Certifications:

• CPR a plus

Abilities Required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and initiate’s action to correct hazardous conditions
• Physical aspects of the job require heavy lifting, carrying, balancing, transporting, and manipulating of maintenance equipment and appliances, standing/walking, bending, stopping, climbing, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Excellent customer service skills required
• Excellent attention to detail required
• Able to speak, read and write Spanish, Creole, or French a plus
