The Shipping Clerk manages incoming and outgoing shipments of products, materials, and supplies in a CNC manufacturing environment. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all shipments and maintains inventory records. Additional job functions include cleaning parts, when needed, and maintaining an inventory of finished products.
Key Responsibilities
Receive Incoming Shipments:
- Verify and inspect received items for accuracy and damages.
- Match shipping documents to product orders
- Label and store received items in designated storage areas.
- Pack and label materials according to shipping instructions.
- Prepare shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading and airway bills).
- Coordinate with carriers and logistics providers for timely delivery.
- Use and maintain shipping software, including UPS and MRP-Job Boss.
- Track inventory levels and maintain accurate records.
- Organize and catalog items in the stockroom.
- Conduct regular inventory audits.
- Maintain 5s standards in the shipping area.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other shipping and receiving equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain equipment in good working conditions.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare regular shipping and receiving reports for management.
- Handle issues arising in shipping or inventory handling.
- Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems.
- Ensure all shipping records are accurately stored in the database.
Customer and Vendor Interaction:
- Resolve shipment and delivery issues with customers and suppliers.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure smooth operations.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Computer competency - Use of ERP Systems
- Multitasking - prioritize and execute tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment.
