We are looking for an experienced Float Medical Assistant to join our rapidly growing team. The Float Medical Assistant is responsible for the execution of the daily activities of the medical assistant role, as well as backing up the Front Desk Staff when needed. The Float Medical Assistant will ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA standards. At all times, the position will display excellence in customer service and exhibit the values of integrity and compassion. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Record patient allergies, meds, vitals, and other pertinent data in patient charts.
- Perform specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Give patient injections of medication under the direction of the supervising physician.
- Assist in medical treatments and the completion of paperwork associated with treatments.
- Schedule appointments for multiple offices, accurately and efficiently.
- Diligently handle medical records release and/or request.
- Return patient calls and relay messages to patients under the direction of the providers
- Send out follow-up reminder notices.
- Monitor supplies used and notify the supervisor when inventory runs low.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all services offered to patients
- Explain office policies to patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly reception/waiting room, entryway to office, and work area.
- Shred patient information to comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow HIPAA regulations.
- Follow OSHA rules and regulations.
- Follow Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality.
- Ensure the patients are treated courteously and professionally.
- Deliver top-notch customer service to every patient who enters our doors.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years back office experience in a medical office to include administration of injections/meds, obtaining vital signs, medication prior authorizations, and charting.
- Must be a certified/registered MA, (LPN or EMT licensed in the state of Georgia may also apply).
- Must be able to multi-task complex tasks and have extreme attention to details
- Knowledge of REMS programs would be beneficial
- Medical Terminology
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Strong written and oral communication
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be a dependable, team-oriented, self-starter.
- Demonstrate tactfulness and sensitivity in dealing with patients
