In today's dynamic worksites, seamless collaboration between people and machines is essential. FORT's platform ensures safe, secure, and dynamic control that surpasses legacy systems and next-generation AI capabilities.
While autonomous machines offer significant advantages, they also introduce new safety challenges. FORT addresses these concerns by providing solutions such as the Wireless E-Stop, which allows operators to instantly stop any machine from a safe distance, enhancing safety during emergencies.
Additionally, FORT's Safe Remote Control enables operators to manage heavy machinery remotely, reducing the risk of accidents and improving visibility.
By ensuring communications integrity across any network, FORT empowers customers to protect their most valuable assets—people, data, and machines—ensuring they remain safe and secure.
We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer with a strong Electrical Engineering (or related) background who thrives at the intersection of embedded testing, manual validation, automation, and lab infrastructure ownership. This role requires someone comfortable running deep manual test campaigns, skilled enough to automate where it adds value, and motivated to design, build, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches.
The ideal candidate will also bring hands-on hardware experience — building custom breakout boards, fixtures, or adapters — to expand test coverage and improve bench reliability.
Responsibilities
- Develop test methods and procedures to transition products from design into volume manufacturing.
- Design and execute manual and automated tests for embedded hardware and firmware validation.
- Perform regression, performance, stress, and reliability testing on Fort devices.
- Establish and maintain test plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure repeatable and auditable testing.
- Build, maintain, and upgrade Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) benches for system and device-level validation.
- Manage and improve lab infrastructure, including test equipment, fixtures, and assets.
- Design and build custom breakout boards, adapters, and fixtures to support testing needs
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineering teams to debug and resolve issues.
- Contribute to design reviews by defining testability requirements early in development.
- Support product engineering in maintaining and improving R&D test environments
- Work with manufacturing partners to create and document production test processes (hardware and software)
- Provide technical expertise to support production and program management, including special customer deliveries.
- Contribute to re-engineering efforts to improve quality and manufacturability.
- Deliver clear, data-driven test reports to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.
- Work directly with customers at customer sites to drive success through hands-on support (10–20% travel)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline preferred
- 5+ years of experience testing complex embedded products
- Strong manual testing skills with attention to detail
- 2+ years of experience using Python and C/C++ for automation and validation
- Experience with hardware/software validation infrastructures (HIL/SIL)
- Familiarity with Linux environments, Docker, CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins), and Git version control
- Skilled in designing custom hardware or software fixtures for embedded system testing
- Proficient with wired (Ethernet, CAN, UART) and wireless (BLE, Wi-Fi, LTE) communication technologies
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers
- Ability to manage multiple efforts and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Growth mindset with interest in advancing responsibilities within Fort
Preferred
- Hands-on hardware design experience (custom breakout boards, adapters, test fixtures)
- Knowledge of RF testing or safety-critical system validation
- Experience with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262)
- Prior experience with Azure pipelines or other CI/CD tools
