Position Overview:
The Director of Security is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of security operations for Larry H. Miller Security Services Corporation, with dedicated oversight of both the Executive Protection Division and all physical security for the Jordan Commons campus. The role provides for the direct protection of executive leaders and Miller family members and encompasses both management of and participation in the executive protection detail. The Director is expected to set establish, execute, and continuously improve standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of Miller family members, executives, staff, visitors, and physical assets, while supporting organizational objectives and compliance.
Scope of Responsibilities/Duties:
- Executive Protection Leadership & Active Participation
- Oversee and manage the Executive Protection Division, ensuring the effective safeguarding of Miller family members and executive leaders in line with company values and standards.
- Serve as an active, armed member of the executive protection detail, including responsibilities for providing personal security to Miller family members and executives.
- Carry out executive protection activities such as armed close protection, counter-surveillance operations, secure transport, threat assessment, route planning, and advance security planning for events, travel, and residences.
- Maintain situational awareness, participate in rapid response to security threats or incidents, and ensure immediate risk mitigation.
- Design, implement, and regularly review protocols for executive and family travel, special events, and in-residence security.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and trusted external agencies (e.g., law enforcement, specialized consultants) to coordinate comprehensive security and risk reduction plans.
- Oversee maintenance of fleet of security vehicles.
- Other responsibilities as may be required from time to time.
- Building and Campus Security Oversight
- Develop and manage a holistic security strategy for the Jordan Commons campus, including incident prevention, emergency response, access control, surveillance systems, and perimeter security.
- Supervise physical security teams in daily operations, emergency drills and training, incident documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Regularly monitor and report on campus security risks, including infrastructure upkeep and technology updates according to current industry standards.
- Collaborate with facilities and real estate teams to identify and address vulnerabilities and support asset maintenance.
- Risk Management and Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate strategic, operational, and reputational risks, with an emphasis on executive and Miller family protection as well as campus security.
- Implement, enforce, and monitor policies, standard operating procedures, codes of conduct, and audit recommendations related to security and ethical conduct.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and company requirements for armed protection and security mandates.
- Leadership & Reporting
- Provide timely, high-quality reports to senior management and oversight groups regarding incidents, threat and risk assessments, mitigation steps, and emerging needs.
- Foster a culture of ethical behavior, quality reporting, and sound business risk management within the security team.
- Lead talent development, training, and succession planning in the security division.
- Represent the company in external risk committees and cross-functional enterprise security projects as directed.
- Continuous Improvement
- Continually evaluate and strengthen security protocols, training programs (including firearms and tactical readiness), procedural controls, and technology to address changing threats and organizational priorities.
- Remain updated on local, state, and federal developments impacting executive and facility security, with emphasis on advances in executive protection methodology.

Job Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in law enforcement, military protective services, or corporate/family executive protection required.
- Extensive experience (preferably in a corporate or high-profile, family office environment) in security management, executive/family protection, and campus/facility security.
- Proven track record in developing and deploying executive protection strategies, including armed protection, counter-surveillance, and secure transportation.
- Deep understanding of enterprise risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements for physical and executive protection.
- Proficiency with protective tactics, secure vehicle operations, threat identification, and use of relevant protective technologies.
- Experience leading teams and collaborating with executive leadership, facilities management, family office stakeholders, and external agencies.
- Excellent communication, crisis management, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Relevant certifications (CPP, PSP, PPS, etc.) and documented firearms proficiency strongly preferred.
