Overview

The Material Planner I will help ensure the efficient and cost-effective management of inventory levels for our clinical laboratories.  This person will oversee inventory levels, resolve supply issues, assist in managing vendor relationships and performance, and implement time, risk and cost-saving strategies for managing our supplies.  This person will also support sourcing for special laboratory projects and for groups associated with the clinical laboratory. Our remotely located Procurement and Finance teams will use this person as a primary resource for on-site investigations of issues related to supply chain and invoicing.

Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Responsibility

  1. Develop and maintain accurate bill of materials (BOMs) for all Myriad tests and in-house manufactured products and work with stakeholders to continuously improve BOM management processes so that product/process changes and variations are correctly modeled.
  2. Forecast material supply requirements based on production schedules, analysis of laboratory demand, and assessment of supply chain risk.  Use this information to create and implement inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts.
  3. Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries of high-quality materials according to supply plans and to quickly resolve any issues or delays.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams working on product development and improvement to develop sourcing strategies that meet specifications and mitigate supply risk.
  5. Provide support for sourcing of non-standard items required for R&D, Hardware and Service Engineering, and special projects and initiatives in the regulated production lab.
  6. Serve as on-site resource for Procurement and Finance teams and maintain and update supply chain databases and systems in Oracle ERP.
  7. Oracle ERP data maintenance: maintain and update supply chain databases and systems.

Qualifications

  1. Required education and experience:
    1. Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience OR
    2. Associate degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience OR
    3. High school diploma and at least 4 years of relevant experience as listed below 
  2. Relevant experience:
    1. Experience in a Procurement, Supply Chain, or Warehouse Management role- experience (in a clinical lab or biotech environment is a plus) OR
    2. Experience in a clinical lab environment with an understanding of material requirements and processes (experience in a regulated clinical environment is a plus).
  3. At least 1 year of extensive user experience with Oracle, SAP, or other ERP system;
  4. Proficient with Excel (as demonstrated by passing a pre-interview examination);
  5. Strong organizational skills are essential for this position and good communication skills are also very important.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
