Plant Manager - Red Wing na Package Pavement

Red Wing Properties, Inc., is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of our sand and gravel operations in Billings, NY.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in sand and gravel mining.
• Study contour maps and aerial photographs to determine locations of roads and cuts.
• Plan location of spoil pile (dump area) to allow maximum room for stripping.
• Coordinate stripping or quarrying and loading activities
• Schedule running of and major repair work on conveyors, dredge, screens, crushers and other operating equipment.
• Requisition and/or order supplies and replacement parts.
• Observe mining operation to detect violation of safety regulations and compile safety and production records.
• Train new workers.
• Periodically measure size of rocks in storage piles, using ruler, to ensure conformity to size specifications.
• Determine cause for rock non-conformance to specifications, using knowledge of conveyor and screening process and direct subordinates to perform corrective repairs.
• Keep up to date with all aspects of mining permits and special conditions.
• Interact with sales and dispatch to insure product availability.
• Supervise snow removal activities utilizing employee and our equipment.
• Preparation and presentation of employee evaluations, and counseling and disciplinary action meetings as needed.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years’ experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance
• Working knowledge in the operations of a gravel pit and the machinery required
• Supervisory experience required
• First Aid/CPR training a plus
• Electrical and PLC control skills a plus
• Strong computer literacy, organizational skills, and communication skills
