About the role:

 

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled Placement Accountant to join our Finance Team, supporting the Children’s Social Care service. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the effective management of placement budgets of approximately £56m a year and to make a positive impact on outcomes for children and young people. 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyse, and forecast the Children’s Social Care placement budget.
  • Provide clear and timely financial advice to Service Managers, helping them make informed decisions.
  • Support the Group Accountant with reporting, budget setting, year-end closing and strategic financial planning.
  • Work collaboratively with operational colleagues to maintain robust financial control and ensure value for money.

The successful candidate should have:

  • strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex financial data clearly, often to non-Finance experts

  • Excellent communication skills to be able to build constructive relationships with managers and non-finance colleagues

  • a proactive and solution-focused approach to financial management.

  • Experience of budget monitoring and forecasting, ideally within a public sector or social care environment. 

  • Familiarity with the Mosaic Financials system (desirable).
