Bal Raksha Bharat (also known as Save the Children) is India's leading independent child rights organisation. It is a member of Save the Children movement that operates globally with the mission to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and achieve immediate and lasting changes in their lives. We are working towards three breakthroughs in how the world treats children by 2030:

· No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
· All children learn from a quality basic education and

We run programmes in the remotest corners of India and urban areas in the areas of Health & Nutrition, Education, Child Protection and Livelihood & Economic Wellbeing in order to facilitate quality education, healthcare and protection from harm and abuse and life-saving aid during emergencies to children.

ROLE PURPOSE

Academic Support Fellow will be responsible for direct on ground implementation & monitoring of the project deliverables in the project geography and ensure that the envisioned outcome of the project is accomplished with quality programming and contributing to the success of organizational strategy & breakthroughs.

SCOPE OF ROLE

Scope: The person will be responsible for coordinating with project stakeholders and executing field activity as per plan.

Role Dimensions

Context: Development

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

The key area of accountability required will be as follows:

  • S/he would be a focal person for implementation of all the activities at anganwadi centre
  • S/he would maintain regular contact with anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, parents and children. 
  • S/he would provide 3-6 years’ children for quality learning environment 
  • S/he would collect and submit MIS related information and data to the project coordinator
  • S/he would provide required information for monthly progress reports, periodic progress updates, case studies from her/his assigned area
  • S/he would make regular visits to AWCs to provide support to AWWs
  • S/he would regularly communicate and work with local leaders, community influencers and duty bearers to build awareness and understanding among them with respect to project objectives
  • Support visits of Government Officials, Donors and other stakeholders to the Centers
  • Adhere to BRB Code of Conduct, POSH, Child Safeguarding Policy and other organizational policies and guideline
  • S/he would undertake additional responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the Assistant Manager
  • S/he would be responsible for setting up Activity corners, BLES work in the concerned AWCs as planned & instructed
  • S/he will monitor the proposed construction related activities in the AWCs 
  • S/he would be responsible for organising the events/workshops/orientations for AWWs, Helpers, Supervision, parents & children as designed & planned
  • Ensure implementation of Child Safeguarding within the project intervention areas

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate in social work or in any discipline from a recognized university or college is essential. Weightage will be given to candidates with experiences related to working in Anganwadis.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Candidate having at least 2-3 years’ experience of working with NGO/School/AWCs/Community/Govt. at the grass root level can apply for the post.

Candidate with experience of working with AWCs and having good understanding of ICDS program will be given preference.

The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING (Strike out whichever is not applicable)

Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in programs; or are visiting programs; therefore a police check will be required.
