The Role 


The Jewish Living Assistant will assist the Head of Jewish Living to promote Jewish ethos, practice, learning and atmosphere across adult services. The postholder will ensure people are enabled and empowered to live their lives according to their personal religious and cultural wishes, supported by fully trained, knowledgeable staff. 


The Jewish Living Assistant will champion engagement with people we support and employees to increase motivation and fulfilment. They will seek advice from the Head of Jewish Living & Community to enable them to act with integrity, share information, celebrate achievements, be a welcome and familiar presence in the homes and services and contribute to the Kisharon Langdon vision. 

 

Key Responsibilities 


  • Build strong, positive relationships and fully collaborate with and include people we support and colleagues in all aspects of your work, including families where appropriate. 
  • Impart to staff and enthuse them that enabling people to fulfil their religious wishes in a person-centred way is central to fulfilling our vision and mission. 
  • Pro-actively plan and organise that people are enabled to observe Shabbos, all Yomim Tovim, davening, etc. according to their wishes, making sure all necessary actions have been organised in advance. Monitor and report on this to the managers. 
  • Run staff training sessions on Jewish Living. 
  • Working alongside the Head of Jewish Living and Community, share information about communal opportunities and assist with planning to ensure people are supported to take part in activities that are socially / religiously / culturally relevant to them in the community. 

 

About You 

The successful applicant should be educated to GSCE level (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, or have equivalent experience in a similar position. It would be desirable if you possess experience working with people with learning disabilities.  


Applicants must be able to build strong and positive working relationships with people we support and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds and at all levels and the ability to adapt according to individual need.  


You will be able to demonstrate a strong background and advanced knowledge of Orthodox Jewish observance, as well as the ability to train and motivate staff regarding the religious practices. Flexibility and the ability to work evenings and weekends is essential for this role. 


What we offer:  


  • Contractual hours: Bank 
  • Basic pay will be c£12.39 per hour 
  • Automatic enrolment into a personal pension plan (subject to meeting qualifying criteria)
  • Holiday entitlement equivalent to 12.07% of the hours worked
