About the role:

We have a great opportunity for a hardworking and committed individual to join the CAMAT (Compliance and Matter Acceptance team) Trainee Conflict Analyst to join our General Counsel team in our Birmingham office.

Within this role you are required to carry out conflict/confidentiality searches by examining and analysing often complex information and providing detailed feedback to fee earners and partners in compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct. You will also be responsible for client opening and on-boarding in addition to carrying out customer due diligence. You will be required to analyse corporate documentation, understand and interpret corporation information from global sources and ensure the firm complies fully with its legal obligations regarding anti-money laundering and terrorist financing.

About you:

We are seeking a candidate with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, who can interpret complex data and communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—across all levels of the organisation. You’ll bring a proactive, team-oriented mindset, with the flexibility to adapt and the confidence to work independently. The ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and remain composed under pressure is essential, as is a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Familiarity with compliance, anti-money laundering, or regulatory frameworks.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume role with clear KPIs and SLAs. As the first point of contact within the business support team, you’ll play a key role in upholding Gowling WLG’s high standards of client experience.
