What to expect

The Risk and Opportunity Lead is a key role in the Transformation Portfolio Management Office team and reports to the Head of Portfolio Controls and Profession and is responsible leading the Risk, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies and Opportunities (RAIDO) Function of the Transformation Portfolio.

 

The Risk and Opportunity Lead will provide expertise and leadership in the management of risk, opportunities, issues, dependencies, assumptions and constraints to the projects and programmes that comprise a multi-workstream transformation portfolio. The Risk and Opportunity Lead will analyse the RAIDO Registers of projects, programmes and pillars and identify key themes for improvement or resolution and provide assurance of the deliverability portfolio objectives and programme outcomes.

What you’ll need to succeed

•    Proven experience of RAIDO management within a large programme or portfolio (£100M+), ideally within a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
•    Strong technical proficiency in the use of RAID management and PPM tools such as ServiceNow.
•    Proven ability to effectively manage and retire portfolio risk.
•    Proven experience of identifying and exploiting opportunities that arise from an analysis of risk.
•    Proven experience of actively managing inter-dependencies at project, programme and portfolio level .
•    A solid understanding of Assumptions and Constraints, techniques for their management and their effects on project delivery.
•    Deep understanding of programme lifecycle management, PMO functions, and best practices for RAIDO management and of driving capability improvement and maturity in RAIDO management.
•    Experience of RAID management in both Waterfall and Agile environments.
•    Demonstrable experience in leading and mentoring high-performing teams.
•    Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at executive level.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, solutions-driven mindset.
•    Experience of performed QSRA and QCRA.
•    Experience of delivering bespoke training and coaching to PMO and project delivery teams in all aspects of RAID management.
