ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

 This position supports the mission and vision of Residence Life & Housing by providing direct assistance to students and completing essential clerical tasks for the department. The role focuses on front-line student service, information management, and operational support. The position works under the supervision of the Director of Residence Life & Housing (RL&H) and collaborates closely with Residence Hall Directors (RHDs).

 

This position is a part time, semester-based position working approximately 25 hours per week. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Assistance & Support

  • Serve as a welcoming and informed first point of contact for students visiting or calling the RL&H office.
  • Assist students in navigating RL&H policies, processes, and campus resources.
  • Provide information and guidance on general RL&H inquiries.
  • Help facilitate referrals to other departments such as Student Accountability & Restorative Practices, Public Safety, Wellness, Student Success, and Student Financial Services.

 

 Operational Support

  • Assist with the preparation, distribution, and collection of RL&H forms, notices, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date RL&H records and related documentation.
  • Support the coordination and tracking of maintenance and facilities requests for residence halls.
  • Update digital signage and informational postings for residential communities.
  • Help coordinate logistics for residence life programs, training sessions, and departmental events. 
  • Assist with data entry, surveys, and compiling reports related to RL&H.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college students and a diverse campus community.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a student-centered approach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn housing management software.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

EDUCATION:

-    High school diploma required, associate’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

- Prior experience working with students.

- Experience dealing with interpersonal conflict resolution.

- Experience with scheduling and managing multiple responsibilities.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position will require the ability to frequently reach, stand, walk, bend, twist, grasp, sit, talk, hear, see, climb and perform repetitive motions.
  • Position will require the ability to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds, and push/pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
