Job Description Summary
Directs and supervises a crew comprised of six (6) to ten (10) AmeriCorps members, between the ages of 17 and 24, in a variety of labor-intensive work projects that benefit the communities of Weld County. Leads members on work sites providing leadership and guidance and implements risk management activities. Demonstrates organizational skills and a positive work ethic to foster both the short term and long-term goals of individual crew members. This position is required to be in-person with a possibility for limited telework.Ideal candidate traits:
1. Candidate who possesses strong time management skills, with the ability to stay focused on tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
2. Candidate is able to structure the workload to ensure all tasks are given the correct priority, meets commitments, and deadlines.
3. Candidate has strong communication skills in order to clearly communicate important information regularly while also interacting and communicating at various organizational levels.
Primary office location is the Greeley campus but will work outside in all weather conditions. Reliable, predictable attendance within department business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Job Description
Leadership - 45%
- Leads a work crew of young adults on a variety of work sites performing tasks necessary to complete work projects that are primarily related to conservation, to include the removal of invasive (non-native) species often utilizing chainsaws.
- Implements and monitors safety related strategies to manage risk and ensure member safety.
- Performs as a role model for participants by exhibiting a good work ethic, quality workmanship, and a healthy lifestyle.
- Promotes teamwork and conflict resolution skills.
- Monitors individual’s skill and project development and completing member performance evaluations.
- Assists in the process of establishing individual short term and long-term goals to include educational, employment, personal etc., supporting (through monitoring, tracking and documenting progress) each member to achieve mutually identified goals.
- Ensures that crew members arrive on time and regularly to appointments and projects that are arranged through the program.
- Works alongside participants teaching skills needed to perform project work.
Program Support - 40%
- Transports crew members to worksites and other training or supportive services appointments in a Weld County vehicle.
- Engages members to increase basic life skills through the facilitation of training and practical skill application.
- Provides member support in life skill training and career pathways exploration such as educational facilities and local industry tours.
- Ensures work projects are completed with accuracy and efficiency to stay on schedule.
- Monitors and ensures project completion by tracking progress against defined measurable outcomes.
- Maintains a log of member attendance and progressive term completion.
- Calculates and logs identified program outcomes which include volunteer hours, environmental impact, and cost savings for sponsor agencies and/or communities of Weld County.
- Meets program goals including standards established locally, by the state and or federal government.
- Accurately establishes and maintains files that include all required documentation, attendance and progress records with necessary signatures, relevant dates, and outcomes.
- Responsible for vehicle, equipment, and facility maintenance, record tracking, and inventory.
Collaboration - 15%
- Builds strong relationships with individual project sponsors and track project data and results to ensure project sponsors are satisfied with each crew.
- Alongside WCYCC Supervisor, schedules and coordinates projects for AmeriCorps Members.
- Maintains ongoing professional association with all sponsor agencies and businesses.
- Engages in member recruitment throughout the year, maintaining internal and external relationships with colleagues and partners.

Required Qualifications
Required Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Experience Qualifications
- 2 years years of experience working with youth, preferably in human services, youth corps, youth corrections, youth counseling or an educational environment to include coaching team sports. or
- Any combination of equivalent work experience and education or training that demonstrates skills and ability in Leadership/Communication and Workflow Organization.
Preferred Education
- Associate's Degree
Preferred Experience
- Ability to keyboard at 30 words per minute.
- S-212 FALA Chainsaw Certification.
- S-212 FALB Chainsaw Certification.
- Qualified Supervisor License through the Colorado Department of Agriculture for Rangeland Pest Control.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the construction trade and skills using basic hand tools and equipment.
- Candidate must be able to work outside in all weather and perform physical work activities.
- Candidate must have a valid Colorado Driver's License and Liability Insurance.
- Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County. A County vehicle will be provided to transport youth participants to project sites.
- Candidate must possess the ability to enter data into several different computer programs.
- Candidate must possess the ability to learn and apply new computer skills regularly.
- Candidate must possess the advanced knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures.
- Candidate must possess the ability to write correspondence.
- Candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
- Candidate must possess the ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.
- Candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.
- Candidate must possess the ability to work independently and handle high-stress situations, prioritizing competing tasks or responsibilities in a fast paced, high volume, and ever-changing work environment.
Licenses and Certifications
- Candidate must pass a pre-employment physical screening. Required
- Candidate must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Report. Required
- Candidate must pass Human Services Background Checks, which includes CBI/FBI fingerprinting and will continue to be monitored throughout employment. Required
- Candidate must obtain an S-212 FALA Chainsaw Certification and achieve their S-212 FALB within one (1) year of hire. Required
- Candidate must obtain their Qualified Supervisor License through the Colorado Department of Agriculture within 6 (six) months of hire and complete the exam for Rangeland Pest Control. Required
- Candidate must pass a drug screening. Ongoing random drug screens may occur for all employees required to drive County vehicles. Required
This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
