Position Overview

 
JGM is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Helper to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist in various construction tasks, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and safely. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. 
 

Responsibilities


  • Assist skilled tradespeople in performing their duties.
  • Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Prepare construction sites by cleaning and removing hazards.
  • Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of tools and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. 

 
Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. 

 
Important Notes
 
This is a safety-sensitive position. In accordance with JGM’s safety policy and applicable regulations, individuals actively using medical marijuana are not eligible for this role. 
Candidates must successfully pass a drug screening, including testing for marijuana, prior to starting employment. 
 
Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds properly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
  • Climb stepladders and extension ladders and stairs and work from a raised platform.
  • Operate tools properly and safely.
  • Operate high reaches, scissor lifts, fork-trucks, cranes, if properly trained.
  • Employees may be required to properly utilize drills, welding equipment, saws, ladders, levels, wrenches, hammers, safety equipment, all tools in the requirements list, etc. 

 
Work Environment
 
Construction employees perform physically demanding work including lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some work can happen outdoors in all weather conditions. Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery. Some workers may be exposed to lead- based paint, asbestos, or other hazardous substances during their work especially when working in confined spaces. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as gloves, hardhats, protective chemical suits, and devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, or hearing. It is important that all workers exercise caution and can deal with or identify a variety of hazards.
