Job Description

Job Posting:

Cox Automotive is the market leader in technology services for the automotive industry. Our engineering organization thrives on building innovative products that help our customers succeed. We’re passionate about delivering high-quality software, while fostering an award-winning culture where ideas are valued, collaboration is encouraged, and people are empowered to drive transformative technology.

We are seeking a Software Engineer I to join our Velocity engineering team, supporting the Simulcast platform. Simulcast is Manheim’s live digital auction platform, enabling dealers to remotely participate in vehicle auctions. Designed for split-second decision-making, it provides real-time access to vehicle data, auction status, and bidding tools.

Our stack includes Java and ReactJS, and we leverage AWS to build and operate highly performant, cloud-native applications. We use tools such as New Relic, Splunk, and PagerDuty to monitor and support our platform. As part of an Agile team, you’ll own applications end-to-end design, development, testing, deployment, and support, while also helping us reduce technical debt and deliver business-critical initiatives.

Your Role:

  • Design, build, and support solutions for our cloud-native Simulcast application.
  • Provide ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products.
  • Collaborate within an Agile delivery team to foster a culture of passion, trust, and creativity.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years’ experience in a related field

Preferred Experience

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience designing and optimizing access to relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native software and integration, ideally with AWS (experience with Azure or GCP also considered).
  • Hands-on experience with distributed version control systems such as Git.
  • Exposure to Agile development practices.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve code quality, accelerate delivery, and enhance productivity.

 Technologies we use:

  • Java, ReactJS, AWS, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • NewRelic, Splunk
  • Docker, Github Actions, CDK, Ansible
  • MySQL Database

Drug Testing

To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.

Benefits

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
