Schedule: Monday – Thursday

Position Summary:
The Meals Courier is responsible for packing and delivering meals to participants according to schedules set by the dining site or Nutrition Manager. In some areas, the Courier may also pick up bulk meals for delivery to another location. This is an entry-level position, ideal for someone who enjoys driving, interacting with people, and supporting the community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver meals promptly using agency-approved delivery bags.
  • Check and record meal temperatures; use hot or cold packs as needed to maintain proper temperatures.
  • Check on participants’ well-being during each delivery and report concerns to supervisors.
  • Record walk-in freezer temperatures and ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Deliver Nutrition education materials and other information as required.
  • Complete and submit delivery rosters to the Nutrition Coordinator; report any issues.
  • Accept and store bulk frozen meals from vendors when required.
  • Assist with receiving food and supply shipments as needed.
  • Supervise volunteer delivery drivers, if applicable.
  • Maintain agency vehicles in clean and working order; report maintenance needs.
  • Attend and participate in agency meetings, training, and safety programs as scheduled.

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs; must pass a physical.
  • Effective customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure without compromising attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, organize, and prioritize activities.
  • Ability to solve routine problems.

Education Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED
