Job Description:

The Office of Admissions at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Student Recruiter I. This role has a first-year prospective student recruiting territory of western Iowa and is crucial in supporting the university’s enrollment goals. Student Recruiters play an essential role in attracting, recruiting, and enrolling prospective students by traveling to high schools, attending college fairs, hosting recruitment events, and building strong relationships with students, families, counselors, and community partners. The position also involves reviewing and evaluating academic credentials to assess student qualifications for admission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counsel, advise, and assist prospective students and families on admissions requirements and processes.
  • Provide outstanding customer service via phone, email, text, and in-person communication.
  • Conduct enrollment presentations for prospective students and families.
  • Represent Iowa State at high schools, college fairs, and recruitment events throughout the western Iowa territory.
  • Manage communication and relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, and student support systems.
  • Review student transcripts to evaluate academic qualifications for admission.
  • Support and assist with New Student Programs events and activities.
  • Utilize a CRM system to manage prospective student data, analyze territory trends, and track progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on projects, follow-up efforts, and initiatives that support recruitment goals.

Example of Duties
• Recruits prospective students from high schools and community colleges.
• Plans events, including student open houses, visits, tours, and off-site receptions.
• Travels and gives presentations about the university to student groups.
• Participates in the review and evaluation of student applicants.
• Counsels students and parents regarding the admissions process.
• Serves as school ambassador to outside groups.

• Individual contributor position with developing professional and/or technical skills working under immediate to general supervision
• Grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode
• Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained
• Responds to inquiries and issues, escalating to manager or higher level workers as appropriate
• May lead projects of limited scope and complexity
• May provide guidance to students

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
