Job Description
Summary/objective
The Career Advancement Program (CAP) is designed for students in grades 10-12 to explore and be connected to diverse STEM career and education pathways. Through mentorship, skill development programs, and in-laboratory experience, CAP helps students transition from high school to the workforce or higher education, opening doors and creating pathways to success. The Director will lead program development and implementation, student tracking, assessment, and overall program management to help develop the generation of STEM leaders. The Director will report to the Chief Development Officer and will supervise the S2S Internship Coordinator.
Essential functions
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative assessments through surveys to collect data on students to inform decisions about programs, workshops, and events.
- Incorporate student and career development theories and cultural competencies in advising.
- Design and facilitate education and career exploration events and activities including recruitment of speakers, venue and logistics, and managing registrations processes.
- Develop and distribute program and event marketing materials (letters, flyers, mailers and other materials to publicize CAP and events), additional resources and newsletters.
- Partner with higher education institutions to provide college entrance information and assistance to students, teachers, parents and counselors.
- Contact, schedule and arrange guest speakers from corporate partners, community colleges/universities and military services to present information regarding specific careers.
- Research and stay informed on the latest employment trend data for STEM related career industries in New Jersey and nationally.
- Oversee the CAP Mentoring program and the student and mentor application/vetting process.
- Define the processes and anticipated outcomes of the CAP Mentoring Program.
- Assist the Internship Coordinator with the S2S intern application/vetting process and placement.
- Raise funds to support programming advancement, events and special initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with S2S Development, Lab Operations and Operations teams to coordinate activities across cohorts, leverage resources, share best practices and support effective program delivery.
- Maintain a database of corporate internship sites, hiring managers and entry level positions available to S2S interns.
- Recruit corporations and community organizations to facilitate fee-based training programs as part of the Sanofi Workforce & Development Center.
- Coordinate and execute site visits to workplaces (primarily Summer) and competency training, in collaboration with the Internship Coordinator, for all interns and pre-apprentice participants.
- Track program budget and expenditures.
- Participate in all necessary recruitment and career fairs.
- Participate in special projects and execute other assignments as assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
- Assist the Development Team on all fundraising, special events and outreach programs.
- Must be available to adjust schedule to work evenings and weekends to support training and other events, as needed.

Physical demands
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week, in person.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to travel to S2S Technology Centers corporate, higher education and community partner locations.
Required education and experience
- 3-5 years of job-related experience, such as working in a non-profit, high school or higher education setting.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (e.g., human resources, business administration, education) and/or equivalent work experience.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred education and experience
- Master of Arts, Master of Public Management, Master of Education Administration (preferred)
- Experience in employment recruitment, corporate training, college careers services or experience in a classroom setting preferred.
