Child Development Resources (CDR) is looking for an Early Intervention Billing Coordinator to join our team.  This position works in the Infant-Parent Program administering the billing process for the program.  In this position, you will monitor billing policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of practices. The Early Intervention Billing Coordinator stays informed regarding changes in coding and billing policies of Medicare, Tricare, and private insurance that impact early intervention billing.

Education and Experience:  A high school diploma or equivalent with several years of experience with insurance billing.  Early intervention billing experience is preferred and experience billing and collecting Medicaid claims is helpful.  Current knowledge of insurance terminology and coding is required.

Qualifications:  Experience with physical, occupational, speech therapy, and other EI services.   Understands Medicaid regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of how to deal with regulated and non-regulated insurance companies in relation to EI billing.  Strong problem-solving skills and excellent organizational and time management skills.  Prior experience with billing software and insurance clearinghouse.

Duties and Responsibilities:         

  • Maintains financial files.
  • Ensures collection of client information and forms necessary for billing insurance and/or other payers.
  • Provides supervision to the Insurance Billing Assistant
  • Maintains billing software (Carevoyant) and insurance clearinghouse (Waystar).
  • Completes timely third-party insurance billing through Carevoyant and Waystar, including preparation of necessary paperwork and maintenance of child billing records in Carevoyant.
  • Manages aging which includes back billing and write-off of uncollectable accounts.
  • Oversees all insurance pre-authorization and ensures completion of Tricare pre-authorization and referrals.
  • Oversees the process for physician certification of plans of care.
  • Completes all Diagnostic Coding.
  • Maintains client financial records.
  • Answers questions from parents related to Family Cost Share and the Fee Appeal Process, as needed.
  • Completes and maintains staff credentialing in CAQH and NPI.
  • Tracks changes to Medicaid, Tricare, private insurance, and coding that impact early intervention billing.
  • Oversees contracts with third-party payors.

Additional Requirements:  Child protective services and criminal background checks are required.
