POSITION TITLE:  Grant Manager

 

PROGRAM:            Administration and Finance

 

SUPERVISED BY:    Finance Director

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Grants Manager will manage the organization’s financial grants process.  This will include grant budget preparation, reconciliation of grant revenue, grant receivable, restricted funds, staff allocations, financial reporting to grantors, including state and federal grants, and grant variance analysis with the respective grant leadership.

 

CORE COMPETENCIES:

 

  1. Prepare financial reports and invoices for all grants to ensure timely and accurate submission to government agencies and private foundations.
  2. Ensure financial compliance with government and private foundation funding requirements.
  3. Prepare journal entries and allocations as needed.
  4. Respond to funder-related inquiries.
  5. Maintain accurate and updated financial records and files.
  6. Provide support and participate in the budget and audit process.
  7. Work closely with the Controller to reconcile grant revenue.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Controller and Director of Finance

Qualifications


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience required.
  • Five years’ experience supervising accounting staff, grants management, and grants revenue recognition.
  • CPA and single audit experience preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Able to maintain the utmost confidentiality of both agency and client matters. 
  • Maintain a level of adequate productivity as determined by your supervisor.
  • Be capable of working as part of a team.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), be able to interpret balance sheets and profit/loss reports, grant award management and write and implement financial management.
  • Must have working knowledge of computers including accounting software packages and worksheet applications. Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar, a plus
  • Experience in not-for-profit field. Strong oral and written communication required.

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Must have working knowledge of computers including accounting software packages and worksheet applications. Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar, a plus.  Have experience with billing software and medical office procedures.

 

CONTINUED COMPETENCY:

Attendance at required in-service training and continuing education as recommended by supervisor. Must demonstrate an ability to exercise exceptional judgment.  Must maintain a satisfactory performance

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
