Job Summary: 

 

Do you love leading tennis programs, working with tennis pros and developing tennis players of all ages? If so, this job is perfect for you. The Tennis Director is responsible for managing and growing a dynamic tennis program. This includes organizing instructional and recreational programming, overseeing staff and court operations, providing lessons, maintaining facilities, managing pro shop operations, and driving member engagement. The role requires strong leadership, program development experience, and a passion for tennis and service excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive facility operations manual, outlining policies and procedures for all tennis services, administration, and maintenance.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and safety concerns to the Facility Manager.
  • Prepare and submit monthly client reports and other required paperwork in compliance with company policy.
  • Oversee court maintenance, cleanliness, and facility readiness.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies, products, and equipment.
  • Write facility-focused content such as articles and press releases as needed.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation.
  • Attend staff meetings and training to stay current on offerings and safety practices.
  • Provide excellent customer service; respond promptly to guest feedback and requests.
  • Enforce access policies and ensure the safety and security of members and guests.
  • Manage court reservation system to ensure efficient usage.
  • Deliver a full range of instructional services including:
    1. Private/semi-private lessons
    2. Performance
    3. Small group sessions
    4. Clinics
    5. Team coaching
    6. Tactics and strategy development
  • Plan and execute tennis programs for both adults and juniors.
  • Coordinate social and competitive events such as leagues and tournaments.
  • Oversee pro shop and retail functions, if applicable.
  • Promote facility services and programs to attract new members and retain current ones.
  • Keep promotional materials and bulletin boards up to date.
  • Complete lesson and sales documentation on time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience as a Tennis Director (or senior tennis leadership role).
  • Certified teaching professional (USTA or USPTA certification required).
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing successful tennis programs.
  • Strong playing background and instructional capability.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a team.
  • Experience with event planning, budgeting, and financial oversight.
  • High-level customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale or scheduling software.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform activities such as bending, kneeling, and reaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development of a comprehensive standard facility operations manual, including written policies and procedures for all facility services, administration, and maintenance using the Arch Amenities Group operations template.
  • Reports any incidents or accidents to the Facility Manager.
  • Assists in developing monthly client reports.
  • Submits all paperwork and financial reporting, if applicable, in accordance with Arch Amenities Group policy.
  • Assists in facility maintenance, routine preventative maintenance, and repair.
  • Helps maintain a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and or products.
  • Writes articles or press releases for the facility, when applicable.
  • Participates in the Manager on Duty (MOD) schedule.
  • Understands the use and benefits of services, products, programs, and activities by participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops.
  • Provides excellent customer service and helps monitor guest feedback through the use of comment cards and other customer care techniques.  Follows up on guest requests and comments.
  • Helps ensure facility is accessed only by actual members and/or guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times.   Helps uphold guest rule policy and collects all guest fees.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the courts and surrounding areas by patrolling the courts several times daily.
  • Follows the court reservation system to ensure a smooth and even flow of traffic on and off courts.
  • Offers all instructional services including private and semi private lessons, small groups, clinics, team coaching, and tactics and strategy.
  • Assists in the coordination of all social and competitive events including special tournaments.
  • Implements programs for adults and juniors.
  • Participates in overseeing all pro shop and retail functions, when applicable.
  • Submits all lesson and /or sales forms to the Facility Director and/or corporate office on time.
  • Attends staff and facility meetings.
  • Promotes the facility and its amenities to potential members when applicable.
  • Maintains an attractive, up-to-date bulletin board.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree or comparable work experience
  • Previous Tennis Director experience
  • Must be an experienced, strong, successful player
  • Teaching certifications from USTA or USPTA
  • Experience in promoting and implementing a large and varied program of events, classes, and leagues
  • Experience with budget development and financial management is also required
  • Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
