Job Summary:
- This position is a safety consultant to the Department of General Services (DGS) in Harrisburg, PA reporting to the Harrisburg office five days a week with the potential for telework in the future.
- Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the DGS action plan to set dates, determine responsibilities and track completion.
- Develop and deliver health and safety trainings. Take existing training materials or develop new materials, as needed, and deliver effective training to DGS personnel in-person or via webinar as dictated by agency needs.
- Conduct assessments and audits in accordance with Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP) and agency policy including AIPP reviews.
- Analyze data and prepare technical reports and give recommendations. Prepare reports according to agency needs and request to analyze injury data and trends and assist with trend identification, corrective actions, and implementation.
- Provide support for injury/illness prevention, safety, industrial hygiene and AIPP compliance.
- Work independently to provide on-site health and safety support.
- Work with flexibility to adapt to client needs. Understand clients' needs and build relationships through excellent customer service and follow-up skills.
- Understand personnel needs at all levels of employees and management to build relationships and assist with moving safety forward and building a strong safety culture.
- Travel to assigned worksites as/if needed.
What you need to succeed in this role:
- An AIPP qualification and at least two years of occupational safety experience or at least two years of occupational safety experience and working towards an AIPP qualification. AIPP qualifications can be found: Accident and Illness Prevention Service Provider Qualifications | Department of Labor and Industry | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
- Strong assessment, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Extended period of working via computer | Sitting for extended periods of time
