 alary: $33.02-$45.84 per hour

Position Overview: Responsible for electrical installations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production and facilities equipment in industrial establishment. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial automation, controls, and supporting electrical equipment and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. 

Language Skills: English proficiency required. Spanish is a plus. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None. 

Amount of Travel Involved: None. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), Arc Flash, and relevant electrical codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, including but not limited to the following:
    • AS-I Net   
    • Conductivity Meters
    • Device Net
    • Flow Meters
    • Fill Level Detection
    • Label Presence
    • High Speed Coders
    • HMIs
    • I/P Transducers
    • Level Transmitters
    • PLC Controllers
    • PLC I/O
    • PID Loops
    • RTD/Thermocouple
    • Valve Positioners
    • VFDs
    • X-ray Product Inspection 
  • Perform Electrical and Mechanical preventative maintenance inspections and corrective work orders to ensure maximum equipment up time.
  • Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance to maintain equipment integrity and runtime efficiency. 
  • Install electrical conduit using various bends to get the conduit from point A to point B, including pulling and terminating wiring.
  • Participate in the upgrade of production lines with new equipment/technology.
  • Comply with plant Safe Quality Food (SQF), HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety, and audit standards.
  • Document of all work, planned and unplanned, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Know how to pull wiring, run conduit and install boxes under the supervision of Journeyman Electrician.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure minimal downtime and continuous operational improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs, modifications, and maintenance tasks and detailed pass down logs.
  • Single forklift certified. 
  • Participate in departmental GMP zone audits.
  • Participate, as required by the department manager, in Plant Quality System implementation and subsequent audits.
  • General
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and interaction with customers, co-workers, and management.
    • Regular and punctual attendance.
    • Keep tools and work area clean and sanitary.
    • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Be able to install, troubleshoot and repair light fixtures.
  • Terminate wiring.
  • Be able to troubleshoot basic electrical circuits 120v, 240v and 480v.
  • Need to know 3 way switching and 4 way switching.
  • Be able to replace field devices such as Disconnects, Horns, Photo eyes, Solenoids, Encoders and etc.
  • Electrician II – Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities [Competency Expected to be achieved within 12 Months]:
  • Install, program, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for precise motor control and energy efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and replace AC/DC Electrical motors.
  • Troubleshoot and replace Breakers, Fuses and contactors in a safe and professional manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised. 
  • Understand lateral and line diagrams.
  • Identify all electrical issues with equipment and facilities in the plant.
  • Identify and troubleshoot all components in electrical cabinets such as (relays, VFD’s, Overload Disconnects, Contactors, Transformers, Power supplies, I/0 Cards.)
  • Diagnose and repair faults in PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
  • Competency and attainment determined by job performance.
  • Strong ability to work unsupervised.
  • Assist with training Maintenance Mechanics.

Experience for Success:  

  • Skilled in the safe and proper use of hand and power tools, electrical test equipment and related tools and instruments necessary to perform the job.
  • Understanding and diligent application of lockout tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols. 
  • Possess an analytical mind and ability to understand and demonstrate analytical principles. 
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Self-directed with ability to be resourceful, plan and organize work with minimal supervision. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to down equipment calls immediately.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in High-Speed Manufacturing.
  • Must possess State of California – Department of Industrial Relations Apprenticeship Card or Certified General Electrician Card.
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of the above-mentioned electrical components and systems.
  • Demonstrated high level of experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting VFDs.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 3-phase circuits, and 3-phase electrical motor coil evaluation and diagnostics.
