American Crane & Equipment Corporation is looking for a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) to join our high-performing Quality team.

 

In this role, you’ll ensure all welding activities meet ACECO’s strict quality, customer, and regulatory requirements. You’ll perform inspections, verify welder qualifications, and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, and customer standards. Your expertise will directly impact the integrity and safety of the products we deliver.

Location: 531 Old Swede Road – Douglassville, PA 19518

Schedule: Full-time hours | Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm | Overtime as needed

Compensation: Competitive starting salary based on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Do


  • Perform visual inspections of welds in accordance with AWS and ASME codes.
  • Verify Welder Qualifications and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Conduct inspections during fabrication to ensure compliance with drawings, codes, and standards.
  • Identify welding defects, evaluate nonconformances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and maintain WPS, PQR, and WQTR documentation.
  • Ensure inspection records and reports are complete, accurate, and traceable.
  • Support audits and customer inspections as required.
  • Provide feedback to welders to support training and development.
  • Serve as a resource for welding code interpretation and inspection practices.

 

What We’re Looking For


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Associate degree or higher in Welding Technology, Welding Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in welding inspection, fabrication, or quality assurance.
  • Experience with AWS D1.1 and other welding codes.
  • Familiarity with NDT methods (MT, PT, UT) preferred.
  • Experience in nuclear or heavy manufacturing industry is a plus.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify weld defects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Proficient with welding gauges and inspection tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Certifications

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (required).
  • NDT Level II certifications (preferred).

 

Work Environment

 

This role requires working in both office and fabrication shop environments, with regular exposure to welding operations. PPE is provided. Candidates must be able to stand, walk, climb, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform detailed visual inspections.
