Position Summary
Eastern Air Express is currently accepting applications for Direct Entry Captain positions. This role reports directly to the Chief Pilot and carries a minimum monthly guarantee of seventy-two (72) hours. The successful candidate will hold a current FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, a valid First-Class Medical Certificate, and be type-rated on multi-engine aircraft. Preference will be given to those with B-737 type ratings and prior Part 121 Captain experience. Candidates must demonstrate a strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to represent Eastern Air Express’s values and culture in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
As Pilot-in-Command (PIC), the Direct Entry Captain will:
- Exercise final authority for the safe conduct of each flight, including crew, passengers, and cargo.
- Provide leadership and guidance to First Officers and crewmembers, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate effective Crew Resource Management (CRM), encouraging open communication from all flight crewmembers regarding safety-critical concerns.
- Ensure aircraft airworthiness, documentation, and compliance with FAA and company requirements prior to departure.
- Review, validate, and approve flight plans with consideration for weather, performance, fuel, altitude, terrain, and regulatory compliance.
- Make timely operational decisions regarding flight initiation, delay, cancellation, or diversion when conditions dictate.
- Ensure compliance with company flight locating procedures and maintain timely communication with System Operations Control (SOC).
- Oversee fueling operations, cargo security, and passenger safety/compliance briefings.
- Report irregularities, mechanical discrepancies, and any suspected FAA violations promptly to appropriate leadership.
- Maintain accurate flight and duty time records in company systems.
- Uphold professional standards of appearance, communication, and fitness for duty while ensuring the same for all crewmembers.
- Serve as an ambassador for Eastern Air Express by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and customer service excellence at all times.
Qualifications:
- Total Flight Time: Minimum 7,000 hours (turboprop and/or turbojet time in the operating seat only).
- PIC Time: Minimum 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command on multi-crew, multi-engine, commercial aircraft.
- Part 121 Experience: Minimum 1,000 hours of flight time under Part 121 operations.
- FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate.
- Current FAA First-Class Medical Certificate.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Valid U.S. Passport (or equivalent authorization for unrestricted worldwide travel).
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- English proficiency at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
- Authorization to work in the United States (U.S. Passport holder or Green Card holder).
- Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol testing, criminal history records check (CHRC), and compliance with ongoing testing requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Meets all FAR 121.436 requirements for Direct Entry Captain status.
- Ability to multitask, remain composed under pressure, and lead effectively in a high-paced operational environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work a seniority-based schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays).
- Commitment to regulatory compliance, safety leadership, and continuous professional growth.
LOCATION:
You must live within 2 hours from either Miami International Airport or Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
