Under the direction of Vista Care’s Human Resources Operations Manager, the Benefits Administrator is responsible for the overall management of the company employee benefits program ensuring the well-being of our employees in alignment with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values. This includes managing all inquiries about company insurance, retirement, and ancillary benefits and other aspects related to the administration of company benefit plan options.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
● Manages employee 401(k) plans.
● Manages employee health insurance and health care plans.
● Assists employees in completing online enrollment for their benefits packages.
● Calculates the proper paycheck deductions for these benefits, partnering with the payroll team to ensure deductions are accurate and timely.
● Research alternate options for benefits packages and investment opportunities. Proactively presents ideas for additional benefits
● Addresses employee inquiries about their insurance or retirement benefits.
● Maintains files and records of individual employee benefits.
● Makes changes or alterations to benefits in the company HRIS system as necessary.
● Resolves any problems or disputes regarding provision of benefits.
● Assists Human Resources in determining proper benefits and compensation packages for new employees of employees who may have status changes.
● Reconciles all benefit plan invoices on a monthly basis.
● Stays up to date on state and federal regulations concerning insurance and other employee benefits.
● Ensures all state and federal notices are distributed to employees in accordance with regulations.
● Manages COBRA administration.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
● Demonstrates broad knowledge of 401(k) both traditional and Roth.
● Possesses knowledge of the laws surrounding benefits and compensation for employers.
● Demonstrates broad knowledge of different health insurance plans, including HMOs and PPOs.
● Exhibits solid organizational skills.
● Communicates clearly and effectively.
● Is able to translate legal, medical, and insurance-related jargon into layman’s terms for clarification purposes.
● Demonstrates ability to conduct independent research into new benefits plans and changes to insurance and healthcare regulations.
● Is capable of reading, interpreting, and explaining insurance invoices.
● Exhibits ability to maintain relationships with insurance and healthcare providers.
● High level of training skills and knowledge of learning theory.
● High level of competency using computers, multiple programs, and databases
● Exhibits solid organizational skills.
● Communicates clearly and effectively.
● Demonstrates ability to conduct independent research into new laws and changes to regulations.
● Exhibits ability to maintain relationships with Vendors and operational leaders.
● High level of competency using computers, multiple programs, and databases Education:
● Bachelor’s degree required. Business, Human Resources, or related fields preferred.
● Previous experience in human resources preferred Additional Requirements:
● Required to pass the WI BID and other background checks, upon hire
● Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and insurable driving record that meets Vista Care’s current driving requirements
● Must have good interpersonal skills and consistently demonstrate effective decision-making abilities
● Personal vehicle and personal liability insurance must always remain current and within policy limits as determined by Vista Care. Documentation of routine maintenance of a personal vehicle must be maintained and presented to Vista Care upon request.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
● Physical Requirements – Requires repetitive manual and finger dexterity and eyehand coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Must be able to remain awake and alert for the duration of each shift, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, twist, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while assisting with the transfer of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds utilizing manual or mechanical lifting devices.
● Visual, hearing, and communication requirements – Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all staff, other professionals, and individuals. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions in English.
● Work location – Primarily office settings with some of the time spent in home-like settings with varying degrees of background noise. The possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed. May require working under stressful conditions at times and handling emergencies. There will be pressure at times to meet scheduled appointments and deadlines and manage crisis situations. This position will interact with individuals who are intellectually and developmentally disabled and may be frail or confused and have the potential for verbal or physical aggression.
