Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening in our Charleston, SC office for a full-time legal practice assistant. This role will provide a variety of administrative and legal support services with an intense focus on providing exceptional service to our clients. Key responsibilities include preparing and filing legal documents, managing case files, scheduling appointments, and facilitating communication with attorneys and clients, exhibiting commitment to integrity and excellence
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
- Prepare, edit, and proof correspondence and other similar documents
- Perform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processes
- Open and maintain client files and organization documents
- Schedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, travel and closings
- Maintain calendars including transaction deadlines
- Enter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as needed
- Process expense reimbursements
- Answer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mail
- Respond to inquiries for information
- Scan and prepare files for offsite storage
- Other responsibilities as needed
THE ESSENTIALS
- Prior administrative experience in a law firm or a corporate legal department preferred
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and ability to type 50 wpm
- Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the team
- Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
- Experience with Qualia and Simplifile helpful
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Some overtime may be required
