Renesas Electronics is looking for an EHS Facilities Technician. In this position the successful candidate will respond to chemical spills and other hazardous incidents, performing containment, cleanup, and disposal of dangerous substances while ensuring compliance with regulations. Key duties include conducting safety inspections, developing emergency response plans, providing training, and maintaining detailed records. This role requires physical fitness, strong problem-solving and communication skills, extensive knowledge of chemicals, and OSHA training.
Key Responsibilities
- Incident Response:
Respond to hazardous material incidents, including spills and releases, taking appropriate action to control risks and secure the scene.
- Material Handling & Disposal:
Safely identify, handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materials like chemicals, radioactive substances, and biological agents, often requiring specialized equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous materials handling and storage.
- Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of hazardous materials, incidents, inspections, and waste disposal activities.
- Equipment Management:
Maintain and operate specialized equipment and tools used for containment, monitoring, and cleanup. Maintain EHS equipment such as safety showers, eye wash stations and fire extinguishers.
Qualifications:
Must Have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge:
Knowledge of chemicals and hazardous material properties and risks.
- Regulatory Understanding:
Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Emergency Response Skills:
Ability to become competent in using specialized personal protective equipment (PPE), containment techniques, and decontamination procedures.
- Physical Fitness:
The ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and pushing heavy objects, is often required.
- Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving, communication, time management, and decision-making skills.
Must be able to work in a variety of settings, including industrial plant, waste management facility, laboratories, and emergency response teams.
This is an ITAR role - the candidate must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Person.
Additional Information:Hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday.
