Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring that the property delivers outstanding guest service, financial performance, and compliance with Marriott brand standards. This leadership role requires strong business acumen, operational expertise, and the ability to motivate and develop a team while maintaining high levels of guest satisfaction.
Job Description
- Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of all hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage (if applicable), and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with all Marriott brand standards, policies, and procedures, maintaining a high-quality guest experience.
- Develop, monitor, and achieve financial goals for revenue, profitability, and cost control.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department managers and associates, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement corrective actions to achieve and exceed guest satisfaction targets.
- Oversee sales and marketing efforts in collaboration with the sales team to maximize revenue and occupancy.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including health and safety, labor laws, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and business plans to ownership and corporate leadership.
- Build strong community relationships and represent the hotel at local and regional industry events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ownership, providing updates on performance, opportunities, and risks.
- Act as Manager on Duty as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
Education/Formal Training
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience
- 5+ years of progressive hotel management experience, with at least 1 years in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager role.
- Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
- Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in hotel property management systems (Marriott PMS preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service and maintaining high brand standards.
