POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Marketing and Communications leads the strategy, development, and execution of all marketing and communications efforts to advance the mission of the YMCA of Greater Hartford. This role oversees brand management, content creation, digital strategy, and media relations to increase awareness, engage key audiences, and support membership growth. Working in partnership with our CEO, CDO, and marketing firm, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications will play an instrumental role in the future direction of the YMCA of Greater Hartford, which includes ten branches and two overnight camps with more than 100 programs and services in Hartford, Litchfield, Tolland, and Windham counties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversee the organization’s brand, ensuring consistency across all channels and materials.
- Lead digital marketing strategies, including website management, social media, email campaigns, and analytics tracking.
- Create and manage thought leadership content for newsletters, the website, social media, and donor communications in partnership with development and program teams.
- Supervise and mentor interns, freelance writers and designers, and vendors.
- Manage relationships with media, ensuring proactive press engagement and timely responses to opportunities.
- Support fundraising campaigns with marketing strategies that drive donor engagement and retention.
- Oversee the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Collaborate with program teams to amplify mission impact stories and program successes.
- Track and report on marketing metrics to guide decision-making and demonstrate ROI.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 7+ years of marketing/communications experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing successful marketing strategies.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, SEO, email marketing, and social media platforms.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Supervisory experience with a collaborative leadership style.
- Passion for advancing the mission of the YMCA of Greater Hartford.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading an RFP for an advertising agency
- Experience managing freelance designers and writers
- Experience with local media outlets in Connecticut and a deep understanding of life in Connecticut.
- Experience with email marketing tools.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and social media analytics.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit for extended duration.
- Must be able to keyboard-data entry for extended duration.
- Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work at a computer screen for extended periods.
- Must be able to drive to branch offices with supplies for trainings.
