Position Opportunity:
The Director of Business Development represents Matica Bio’s Cell and Gene Therapy development and GMP manufacturing services to potential clients and other market stakeholders. The position is expected to work from a home office, managing a west coast geographical territory presenting the company’s value proposition to qualified targets through in-person meetings, on-site facility visits, industry conferences, social platforms, video and other electronic channels. This position will also work very closely across all operations and administrative departments to provide compelling solutions to the company’s target clients.
How you will make an impact:
Business Development
- Achieve or exceed company established annual and quarterly sales and profit targets for West Territory
- Analyze, develop and implement an aggressive sales plan for territory
- Research and qualify target companies including global pharma, small/mid-size biotechs and academic/NFP institutions
- Generate new contacts, leads, opportunities, CDAs, and Proposals as defined in commercial strategy
- Identify appropriate contact(s) within each target company
- Engage and establish relationships with contacts that are decision makers for Matica Bio’s services and/or who will champion the company during the CDMO selection process
- Working with Commercial Operations, Marketing, Project Management, and site operations teams, generate business proposals for qualified business opportunities
- Develop client specific campaigns to increase awareness and optimize win rate for assigned territory
- Effectively manage and communicate sales pipeline to internal stakeholders through CRM and other communication channels
Corporate Support & Adhere to Established Policies
- Support parent company, CHA & Matica initiatives.
- Ensure effective communication, adherence of all established values, and policies.
- Support execution from US as needed from CHA.
Perform other duties as assigned and / or required, including corporate-level operational tasks
As a future Matican you bring:
Education
- BS degree in related scientific discipline
- Graduate degree in scientific discipline preferred
- MBA degree a plus
Experience
- >3+ years' experience in a Business Development / Account Management role in the CDMO, biotechnology or Life Sciences industry
- Experience in a biotechnology or life sciences contract services company preferred
Licenses or Certifications
- Sales training & certifications is a plus
Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets for products or services to Life Sciences companies
- Has established network of buyers and similar decision makers in specific sales territory
- Knowledge of target companies in specific sales territory
- Working knowledge of GMP manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of the clinical development phases for therapeutics and vaccines
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant applications required
Skills
- Ability to articulate complex ideas and rapidly adjust to meet real-time situations
- Ability to present to large and small groups in-person and through remote video
- Computer software skills, organization, record keeping and planning skills, budget preparation, training skills, time management, facilitation skills
