Come join W.E. O’Neil Construction Co. as a Safety Manager. You will play a key role in promoting our safety culture and ensuring safe work practices across our projects. Working with project teams, subcontractors, and leadership, you will help drive proactive initiatives, lead training, support incident investigations, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

This position will allow you to actively engage with project teams to foster a zero-injury culture. You will conduct job site inspections, coordinate safety training, mentor project staff, and implement both corporate and project level safety initiatives. The role also involves participating in risk management activities, audits, and continuous program improvement efforts while building trust and accountability across the company. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement company safety objectives and promote a comprehensive safety culture
  • Communicate safety performance to project leaders and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents
  • Assist with incident investigations on projects and act as a resource to our project teams
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent implementation of safety programs across projects 
  • Participate in safety trends reviews, lessons learned, and departmental strategy development 
  • Identifies conditions which create hazards for workers, and the public
  • Works with project team to eliminate unsafe conditions and behaviors
  • Coordinates and implements safety trainings and employee onboarding
  • Assures compliance with Company safety policies and OSHA safety standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the required knowledge and skills.
  • 3-5 years of construction safety experience, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
  • Very strong work ethic with the willingness to travel to jobsites and conduct field-based work
  • Capable to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding
  • Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs
