The City of Sioux City is hiring 20 energetic Parks & Recreation Attendants to help bring the fun to life this winter at Cone Park!

If you’re someone who enjoys being around people, working in a lively environment, and spending time outdoors, this is the perfect opportunity for you. As part of our team, you’ll be at the center of the action—helping guests on the tubing hill, serving tasty treats inside the lodge, and making sure everyone has a safe, exciting experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Keep the tubing hill safe by monitoring the top and bottom of the lanes.

  • Work inside the lodge serving food and drinks.

  • Run the cash register and handle rentals.

  • Be a friendly, helpful face for visitors of all ages.

What we’re looking for:

  • A positive, dependable team player who’s ready to interact with lots of people.

  • Someone who can handle a mix of outdoor and indoor responsibilities.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends (minimum 12 hours a week).

  • At least 15 years old to apply.

Position Duties

Under the general direction of a department supervisor, performs general and manual work in the maintenance and operation of the Parks and Recreation programs.

  • Provides primary customer service and acts as resource person in the facility.
  • Works with community to promote understanding of the facility and goodwill toward the facility.
  • Works with the public and coordinates public and private-party participants.     
  • Coordinates general traffic in the facility and may erect traffic barricades.
  • Sets up and tears down chairs, tables and recreational equipment.
  • Performs basic cleaning and maintenance of facility, restrooms; trash removal, dry & wet mop, snow removal/salting, and litter patrol.
  • Cleans, re-stocks and maintains floors and rugs using appropriate machinery.
  • Makes light repairs to equipment, maintains glass and does painting as required. Acts as resource person in the facility.
  • Becomes belay-qualified to belay and coordinates the climbing wall participants, if applicable.
  • Stores, prepares, and serves food products and refreshments in a manner that meets all local and state health code requirements as well as facility rules and guidelines.
  • Performs other related manual tasks in the operation and maintenance of the Parks and Recreation properties.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with officials, other agencies, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Maintains good public relations through courteous and prompt attention to all citizen requests for services.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and working hours.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
  • Expected to temporarily perform duties outside of normal classification in the event of a declared emergency.  In the event that an employee is excused from work other than being sick, they will be required to report to work in a state of declared emergency.

Other Qualifications

Must be belay qualified within (30) thirty days of appointment to the position, if applicable. Must obtain a First Aid & CPR certification within (30) thirty days of appointment to the position, if applicable.

Must be 15 years of age by employment start date or 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol by employment start date.
