The Design Engineer – Controls supports the success of the Engineering team and the Company by designing and developing advanced electrical control systems. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across functions to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and reliable equipment solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD, EPLAN Pro Panel, or similar tools
- Select appropriate components, including circuit protection devices, wiring and cabling, sensors, relays, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, motors, VFDs, and servo systems
- Design transformer-based solutions for voltage adaptation
- Generate and maintain detailed bills of materials (BOMs) and spare parts lists
- Provide support for electrical panel builds, manufacturing activities, and field wiring during equipment commissioning
- Interpret and apply electrical prints, cable schedules, and other technical documentation
- Ensure compliance with UL508A, CSA, CE, and other applicable global standards
- Participate in early-stage equipment design, balancing customer specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead-time considerations
- Maintain technical expertise by attending training, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional networks and societies
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation/ Metatronics, or 3+ years of related experience in specializing in automation/controls
- Proficiency with CAD software and MS Office applications
- Ability and willingness to travel as required up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or plant environment
- Hands-on experience in controls engineering

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the candidate is required regularly to talk and listen. Frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
