Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Quality Control, the Technician checks and tests in-process and finished products, ensures conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications. This is a 1st shift position with the hours of 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.
1. Conduct standardized tests on intermediate and finished food products to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as size, color, and flavor. Flavor analysis entails tasting products potentially containing the following allergens: wheat, milk, soy, egg, peanut, tree nut, and sesame.
2. Check the metal detector to ensure proper operation; report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
3. Gather retention, microbiological and control samples from raw materials and finished products.
4. Prepare microbiological sample composites and paperwork for pickup by laboratory.
5. Examine and approve product labels prior to production run.
6. Place product on hold & assist with investigations as needed.
7. Complete daily paperwork as assigned.
8. Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations. (SQF code, Plant programs, GMP’s and policies. Enforce and report deficiencies when appropriate.
9. Analyze quality data, identify problem areas, and assist in resolving manufacturing processes or methods that affect quality.
10. Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve quality problems and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
11. Obtain environmental samples

Education and/or Experience
- 2 years of college and 1 – 2 years of experience preferred;
- Or 4-year high school diploma and 3-5 years of progressively responsible related experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English. Analyze and interpret work related documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and GFSI standards.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers, vendors, customers, and other employees of the organization.
- Organizational and Strong Communication skills and abilities.
- Ability to work in and with Teamwork.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
- Abilities in Microsoft suite (Power Point, Excel, Word).

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Climb ladders to inspect food vessels (i.e. tanks and tankers).
