Lakes Country Service Cooperative (LCSC) is seeking a Paraprofessional to join our team at Lakes Country Academy (LCA) in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Join our growing team at Lakes Country Academy (LCA) in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where you will help K–12 students thrive in a supportive, highly individualized educational setting.
Our students are referred by local school districts and benefit from a calm, structured environment designed to meet both academic and behavioral needs. Primary duties for this position include assisting with behavior interventions, assisting with classroom instruction and behavioral support in the classroom setting, and serving on the Crisis Team. We are looking for team players who enjoy working with young people and are committed to helping every learner succeed.
Position Details:
- Typical hours: 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., 6.75 hours/day
- Workdays: 180 days/year, aligned with the school calendar
Key Responsibilities: - Support K–12 students in their learning, social, and emotional development
- Serves on the Crisis Team
- Assist with behavior interventions and de-escalation
- Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assist with classroom instruction and behavioral support
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive environment
- Receive on-the-job training and ongoing support
- Maintain emotional stability and perseverance under challenging circumstances
Required Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent AND
- One of the following:
- 60+ college credits
- Completed associate degree
- Passing score on the Paraeducator or ParaPro exam (can be completed after hire within 30 days
- Experience working with individuals with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs
Preferred Qualifications: - Minimum of 1 year experience working on a crisis intervention team
- Knowledge and/or experience with behavior management, crisis response, de-escalation, and physical restraint
- Extensive crisis intervention training
- Experience working with students with challenging behaviors
- A positive attitude, patience, and a passion for helping students succeed
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: - Heavy work. Exerting up to at least 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Use of physical restraints as needed
Pay Range: $19.75-$24.00 per hour depending on qualifications
