Nevada County is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant Auditor for its Auditor-Controller's Office. This is a lead supervisory position where individuals will exercise direct supervision over lower level Accountant-Auditor positions. Individuals will perform and/or coordinate the most complex accounting and financial analyses related to the general accounting and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for preparing most complex accounting transactions and reports, including financial statements and footnotes, conversion entries, and participating in annual audits of financial statements. Other skills and abilities include:
- Maintain accurate and complete specialized accounting records
- Provide oversight and maintenance of records and reports
- Design internal controls for financial transactions including projects and grants
- Prepare correspondence, interpret and explain accounting policies to county departments
- Oversee audits of the county financial statements by independent auditors and state agencies
- Research and resolve errors related to financial transactions and statements
- Analyze and implement new GASB pronouncements
- Train new employees; evaluate the performance of individuals and programs
A Senior Accountant Auditor is an integral part of Auditor-Controller's Office whose mission is to maintain financial records and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting! This position is crafted for individuals who have a Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting, auditing or related field and three years of progressively responsible accounting or auditing experience. If you have knowledge of principles of supervision and training, that's a plus!
