Job Responsibilities:
- Safely operate commercial vehicles (dump trucks, trailers, etc.) to transport heavy equipment, materials, and debris to and from job sites.
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to perform trenching, digging, backfilling, and grading tasks for utility and site work projects.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors.
- Load and unload equipment and materials using proper securing methods and weight distribution practices.
- Follow project plans, job scopes, and utility markings to dig safely and avoid damaging underground infrastructure.
- Maintain clean, organized vehicles and equipment, and ensure tools and machinery are properly stored and maintained.
- Assist crew members with labor tasks when not operating equipment, including shoveling, pipe laying, or site cleanup.
- Comply with DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety protocols at all times.
- Complete accurate logs and job reports, including mileage, fuel usage, and hours worked.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations and site coordination.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or B CDL license with a clean driving record (required).
- 2+ years of experience operating excavators or similar heavy equipment.
- Experience hauling trailers and loading/unloading heavy machinery.
- Familiarity with trenching, grading, and underground utility work.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance.
- Ability to read job site plans, blueprints, or utility markings.
- Must pass drug screening and DOT physical.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
- Work outdoors in various weather, and operate in physically demanding conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
