Description
The Rasmussen Group 2nd Shift Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the 2nd Shift operations of the shop, ensuring that Rasmussen Group of companies’ equipment and vehicles are properly repaired. This position manages a team of technicians and ensures that all repair requests are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Maintains a clean, well-organized, and safe working environment.
- Professionally communicating in a polite, friendly manner.
- Oversee the 2nd Shift activities of the equipment shop, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols.
- Schedule equipment repairs and coordinate with operations to prioritize urgent repairs.
- Lead, manage, and mentor shop personnel, including technicians and mobile technicians; assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide reinforcement/constructive feedback.
- Source and order parts and supplies needed for fleet maintenance and repairs
- Create, track, and review work orders/invoices for accuracy and timely completion
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with official and company regulations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance shop efficiency, reduce costs, and increase equipment uptime.
- Other duties assigned.

Education/Experience
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 3+ years related experience required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Strong understanding and knowledge of truck systems: engine, aftertreatment, electrical, braking, drivetrain, hydraulics components. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methods and software applications.
- Best practices for routine maintenance, repair schedules, and minimizing downtime. OEM guidelines and service intervals for different truck makes and models.
- DOT & Regulatory Compliance; In-depth understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rules. Emissions standards and inspection protocols.
- Safety Standards; OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Safe handling of tools, heavy equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Proficiency in maintenance and fleet management software. Understanding of work order processing and asset tracking.
- Strong grasp of personnel management, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Conflict resolution, team development, and communication skills.
- Possess basic accounting knowledge related to labor, parts, outside repairs and operational costs.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to multitask and work effectively under time and scheduling conflicts.
- Ability to research read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and bulletins.
- Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.
- Must possess knowledge of Company policies and procedures, including safety.
- Must be able to work effectively under time and scheduling deadlines.
Work Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license. CDL is required within 6 months. Company provides training.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass post-offer employment drug screen, background check, physical, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and/or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.

- Must perform mechanical operations while lying or reclining in awkward positions for extended periods.

- Must withstand continuous exposures to wind, dust, fumes, and noxious odors.
- Must possess the strength, mobility, agility, and balance to walk unrestricted on uneven, unsure, and slippery surfaces without assistance.
- Must possess unrestricted mobility to twist, turn, bend, and lean in all directions, lookup, down and side to side without hesitation or discomfort.
- Except for conventional corrective aids, must possess normal eyesight, depth of perception, field of vision, normal hearing, quick reaction time, unimpaired eye-hand coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Must possess the strength, mobility, agility and balance to ascend access ladders and steps, and to maneuver on equipment and vehicles without assistance.
- Lift up to 60-pounds.
- Skeletal, joint and muscle system must withstand continuous impact from driving activities.

- Position is based in a normal shop environment.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday with weekend and some holiday and evening work required. Generally, 50+ hours per week. 2nd Shift 4:00 PM to 1:00AM
